Getting the most from a sweep

• Join the Wi-Fi first. That's how speakers, displays and cameras get named by model.
• Pick the check that fits. Check a place for a room, On a date for glasses and recorders, Being tracked? for tags, Card reader at a gas pump.
• Tap anything it finds for what it can hear or see, where that goes, and what you can do.
• Leave it watching. Wearables and skimmer parts can go quiet; Keep watching listens for as long as the screen is open.

Nothing shows under "Nearby"

Glasses and AI recorders often stop broadcasting while they are connected to their owner's phone and in use. An empty list means nothing was broadcasting at that moment, not that nothing is there. Sweep again in a minute, or use Keep watching.

Nothing shows under "On this Wi-Fi"

You are probably not joined to the Wi-Fi, or iOS hasn't been given the Local Network permission. Check Settings, Apps, Are they listening?, Local Network.

Bluetooth is off

Turn it on in Control Center or Settings and sweep again.

An AirTag shows as "possible"

iPhones hide the part of an AirTag's signal that says whether it is away from its owner, so the app can tell you an AirTag or other Find My item is near you but not whose it is. If the same one keeps turning up where you go, the app flags it. Your iPhone also warns you on its own when an AirTag that isn't yours travels with you.

Drive mode

• No voice: check that the phone isn't muted in the drive screen and that the volume is up.
• Alerts stop when you switch apps: allow location "Always" for the app in Settings. iOS shows the location indicator while drive mode runs, and it stops when you end the drive.
• A reader isn't on the map: tap Report while you drive. Share the saved spots from the Plate readers screen so volunteers can add them to the public map.

Restoring your purchase

The unlock is a one-time purchase tied to your Apple Account. On a new phone, open Settings in the app and tap Restore purchase.

What it can't find

A phone that is recording, a wired microphone, a camera that only records to a memory card, a cellular GPS tracker, or any device with its radios off. Most gas pump skimmers found so far use older Bluetooth that no iPhone can hear, and a drone that sends its Remote ID only over Wi-Fi is invisible to iPhone apps. It also can't confirm that anything is recording right now, only what is there and what it's capable of.

Report a mistake or a missing device

Email us the device name and, if you can, a screenshot from a Bluetooth scanner app such as nRF Connect. New devices are added in updates.
